After Surgery 2017-07-30T02:50:29+00:00

The challenges a child will face in the days, weeks, months, and years after surgery will vary based on several factors. The type of surgery performed, the age of the child at the time of surgery, the length of time the child was seizing before surgery, whether the child has other medical complications, the therapies and interventions available to the child, whether the remaining portions of the brain are undamaged, and whether the child is free of seizures will all impact the child’s functional outcomes.

Each surgery described in this website will soon include a description of what to expect both in terms of short-term and long-term recovery, complications, functional outcomes, effective interventions, and common issues across the lifespan.  Our current content can be viewed starting with the menu for this page.
